Paintings by Holly Carr

A recently launched book "What is Pink?" is based on a poem by Christina G. Rossetti (written in nineteenth-century England) and illustrated by Nova Scotia's artist Holly Carr. Holly lives with her family in rural Nova Scotia and has exhibited her work nationally and internationally. Her botanical and satirical paintings on silk are full of lush, rich colours and much attention has been placed on patterns and details. To view more of her work, you can check out her website at: http://www.hollycarr.com/.

Holly is not only a delight as an artist, but her personality is as colourful and whimsical as her paintings. If you ever have the opportunity to meet her - especially during one of her live performances with various musicians, Women of Wolfville productions or when she was on tour with CBC's Vinyl Cafe hosted by Stuart McLean - you will surely understand what I mean.
