Spring, Spring, Spring!!!!!!

I can see it, smell it, feel it....and want it! Yesterday was such a gorgeous sun shiney day...I actually took out the rake and decided that I would start uncovering the plants and ground to make way for the sunshine to brighten up the tired and sleepy looking earth.

This is the ultimate in feeling good and alive for me. I love to drink my morning tea or coffee outside contemplating life and all that it has to offer. And to top it off...Gleen tells me our website will soon be up and running with more product pictures and paypal!! YipPeEEEEE!! We've been waiting for this very moment. Yes, spring for me also means a time of creating tons of products and samples.....so that every thing is ready for the Wolfville Farmer's Market and our website. One would think that winter would be the ideal time to create these products and samples....but like the tired and sleepy looking earth.....I finally emerge from hibernation and serious life analysis during the cold winter months. I am definitely effected by the sun and temperatures....like a flower...waiting to thrive, blossom and show off its' colours!!!

If you're interested in checking out the local farmers' market and ALL that it has to offer by encouraging the health and vibrancy of our community, you can check it out in person starting May 15th at the Wolfville Robie Tufts Centre on Main Street in Wolfville, Nova Scotia. If you are interested and are planning to visit the area during the summer/fall please check out the Farm Market website at www.nsfarmersmarkets.ca/wolfville. This winter, the market will also be open for the first time year round. Stay tuned for further info on time and place.

Does your town, village or city have a farmers' market? What do you think of it....and does it add to the cultural mecca of your area? I would love to hear your thoughts.

Wolfville's Bountiful Harvest

Okay, so0o0o as part of my life as an artist...I also work in an art gallery. It's a wonderful treasure to behold in such a small, creative and vibrant town. I love this opportunity to meet the artists and to see some of their work in a very inspiring and eclectic venue. I even get to have some of my own work here too!!!! The gallery has a varied collection of abstract, folk, and landscape paintings to sculpture, printmaking, photography, ceramics, textiles and jewellery. Most of these artists artists are either from or currently reside in Nova Scotia and an astonishing 65% of them are from the Annapolis Valley area!!! No wonder there are s0o0oo0 many artists in this area....in a land of much beauty, inspiration and creativity!!!

To check out some of the work at Harvest Gallery go to: www.harvestgallery.ca
The site is currently under construction but you can follow the links to view the talent!!

I think there should be more venues for artists to display their talents, works, wears/wares. If you are interested in starting an artist's coop....please drop me a comment. I have been searching for other textile artists who would love to share a studio/boutique space which may also function as a space for evening workshops. The world is our oyster....and the salty breeze from the Bay of Fundy remind me of that very treasure daily....ahhhhhhh....how I love this little piece of paradise!!

Happy International Women's Day!!!

I love March 8th. It's the day of my birthday - and what better day to have been born than on International Women's Day!!!! YiPpEE!!!!! On this day I often think of women around the world, their struggles and their celebrations as well as my own life....as a Piscean Woman!!!

Today is the first of my many blogs to come. The perfect day for me to celebrate my life with other creative people and to share and celebrate the glorious talents of DIY'ers around the world!! March 8th for me also means that my favourite time of year -SpRiNg!!! is almost here. On this glorious day...the temperatures have soared to above 0 degrees c and the rain is melting all of the snow away!! I love the transition from bland, grey, cold winter to the very energetic, colourful and alive feeling of spring. Even the ladybugs come out to play in the home of lala and gleen!!!

This is the time of year that I, as a creative Piscean, thrive on - visions of flowers, fresh air, big puffy clouds in the bright blue sky, and the wonderful pink and orange sunsets overlooking the dykelands of this beautiful paradise. All of these elements inspire me to create my own line of art, clothing and wearable accessories. Of course, all designed and produced by moi with collaboration avec mon partner Gleen!!! You can view some of my line on my website: www.lalaandgleen.com. If you are an artist of any medium and would like to share your thoughts and inspirations on any particular season, celebratory day, or DIY guidance for other aspiring artists....feel free to post a comment on my blog. I would always love to hear from you!!
