Baby Lamb born this week

This baby lamb is from Lambsrun Farm in Pereau, Nova Scotia. The wee baby was born just this week. I spent some time at Marilyn Rand's farm today visiting her 55 baby lambs, sheep, goats, llamas, horses, dog, cats, bunnies and chickens. Spring is in the air and the animals were enjoying the fresh outdoors.

I use the wool from Marilyn's sheep to do some of my felting projects. I love being able to buy wool locally grown from someone I know!!! She treats her animals with kindness and most of them have names!!!

Lala's Bags now in Newfoundland!!!!!

Yay!!!! I now have my bags at the gorgeous, hip and funky shop called Johnny Ruth on Water St. in St.John's, Newfoundland. It's by far my favourite shop in the city and they carry fabulous clothing and accessories by many Canadian designers. Thanks to the owner Kim and the lovely Melanie for taking time out to look at my products and displaying them so0o0o0o beautifully in their front window.





If you ever find yourself in this quaint and colourful city....you must check out this shop....there is something for every man and woman looking to add an element of edgy Canadian flavour to their wardrobe!!!!





The dijon coloured bag in the window with the funky felted flower was only in the shop for a day before it sold. If you are interested in seeing more, please ask the fabulous staff at Johnny Ruth!!! Sealing VS Paul McCartney

Okay, by now all of you out there around the world have heard about the controversial seal hunting in Newfoundland....which was once again brought to the world's attention my Beatle's star Paul McCartney. While there are many sides to this issue.....I simply want to share with you a couple of tshirts I spotted on Duckworth St. in St.John's, Newfoundland. They are printed by LivelyPlanet who also have a fabulous shop on Duckworth. I hope you can read the top one ( "I club baby seals").


This one reads "I club Paul". Love it!!! I love it that this fabulous company has taken on such a political issue and have presented it in a way that is really quite hilarious!!! I was so0o0o0 tempted to get one of these....but wasn't sure if I myself may be clubbed for displaying such a tshirt in the Maritimes....or anywhere else for that matter. What do you think about the whole issue??? I would love to hear what you all may be thinking.

Newfoundland Folk Art Mailboxes


These are two mailboxes I discovered along my journeys throughout St. John's, Newfoundland. The top one with the colourful row houses I believe was painted by an artist with the last name Baird. I found other examples of this artist's work in several local shops.



I couldn't resist taking a photo of this one. The middle of the flowers are actual beer caps that have been painted with lovely, bright colours!!! I love this use of recycling and the creative way of individualizing the house number/mailbox. Ingenious I say!!!

Adventures in Newfoundland

This is St.John's, Newfoundland - isn't it spectacular at night?? The vista from the hotel room is rather gorgeous.....the sky, lights, and harbour. I definitely recommend this quaint, small city for anyone who loves to immerse themselves in a different city for a few days. The people are very friendly, there are tons...and I do mean tons of amazing restaurants and of course plenty of music venues to check out every evening. There are a few fabulous shops to check out and of course the concourse around Signal Hill. It's definitely a city for walking and working on creating calves of steel - it's like a little San Francisco with all of the hills.

Painterly Sky

Isn't this sunset fabulous with the silhouettes of three silos and the beautiful tree in the background? It's like someone has painted the sky!!!! Ahhhh...how I love it here, especially when I have the opportunity to breathe it all in....and to share it with my fabulous friends!!!!
